Personal History—
Bree was created by Victoria as part of a newborn vampire army she created to finally avenge her mate James’ death at the hands of Edward. Bree never actually saw Victoria, however, as her leader was Riley-- a vampire created to carry out much of Victoria's dirty work (Eclipse, pg. 575).
When the battle between the newborns and the Cullens/werewolves turned in the latter's favor, she surrendered herself to Carlisle who had promised to spare anyone who did (Eclipse, pg. 569).
The Volturi made a guest appearance at the end of the battle, however, and refused to allow Bree to survive. They argued she had broken the sacred law of keeping vampires' existence secret by being brash and conspicuous.
Carlisle defended her, citing her newborn status as the reason for her uncontained bloodlust, but his attempts were futile. She was killed by Felix on Jane’s orders (Eclipse, pg. 578).
