When Carmen met Eleazar, they changed their way of life and joined the Denali coven as "vegetarian" vampires. Carmen only has brief appearances in the series, both in Breaking Dawn -- at Bella and Edward's wedding and near the end when she arrives with the Denali coven to help with the Renesmee situation. She is the first in her coven to warm up to Renesmee.
