Personal History-
Huilen arrives in Forks with Alice, Jasper, Nahuel and Kachiri from South America at the end of Breaking Dawn. She tells the Volturi about the story of her sister Pire, who met an "angel" in the woods and visited her at night. Huilen knew it was the Libishomen (vampire) of their legends due to the bruises he left on Pire's skin. When Pire suspected she was carrying the Libishomen's child, the two sisters ran away into the "deepest parts of the forest" where Pire "ate the animals raw, drinking their blood." Pire died when the "child ripped his way free of her" (Breaking Dawn, pg. 735). When Huilen lifted the child -- Nahuel -- away from Pire, he bit her and changed her into a vampire.
Huilen's story is of great significance to the Cullens and the outcome of the confrontation with the Volturi at the end of Breaking Dawn. Her story coupled with her nephew's testimony serve as evidence against the Volturi's claim that Renesmee could be dangerous.
